It’s okay to be wounded

It’s an important first step to permit yourself to feel broken. You need to give yourself time and permission to wallow a bit. It’s an essential part of the healing process. So, if you’re feeling lost, sad, scared, or angry right now, that’s okay. These are all valid emotions that deserve to be acknowledged and processed. But once you’ve given yourself some time to grieve, it’s time to start healing.

Healing takes time

There is no one-size-fits-all timeline for healing. Some people may heal quickly, while others may need more time. And that’s okay! Everyone heals at their own pace. Just remember that healing is a journey, not a destination. You will likely have good days and bad days. And that’s okay, too. Just keep moving forward, one day at a time.

Start with self-reflection

One of the best ways to start healing is to reflect on your experience. What did you learn about yourself? What did you learn about others? What did you learn about the world? What did you learn about life? Asking yourself these types of questions can help you to make sense of your experience and start to see the silver lining.

Use journaling to facilitate healing

Journaling is a great way to work through your emotions and figure out what you need in order to start healing. It can also be a helpful tool for self-reflection. Not sure where to start? Check out our list of 20 healing journal prompts below!
