Funko is a well-known toy manufacturer that has launched a new NFT line of digital collectibles for kids. The collection features Mickey Mouse, Powerpuff Girls, and other popular characters.
The animated NFT Series will feature characters like Ali, Cho Sang Woo, The Front Man and Young-Hee doll, as well as other elements and characters from the hugely popular show that garnered more than 1.65 billion viewing hours in its first 28 days.
The official website states that you can secure your pack by getting in the line a few moments before the sales begin on the 9th of January 2024 at 11AM PT. You will be assigned a random position.
Check out the list of past and future WAX NFT releases.
There will be 42,000 NFTs in total. Each pack will contain several NFTs. Standard Packs will contain five collectibles whereas Premium Packs will include seventeen. It is an entirely new rule, as it was previously not possible to buy the previous Premium Packs that contained NFTs for $29.99. They only had fifteen collectibles. Standard Packs and their Where To Buy $9.99 will remain the same.
Squid game Funko Pop collectibles
Droppp.io’s collection description states: “Limited Edition Funko Physical Collectibles were exclusively created for the Squid Game x Funko Series 1 Release.” You will have to obtain a Grail set, Legendary or Royalty of NFTs in order to redeem the physical version.
The metallic Grail Front Man is likely to be the figurine that stands out the most. Funko has plans to produce 999 of these figurines.
Three Legendary figures are expected: Deok Su, Seong Gi Hun and the Masked worker with blood splatter. This last one will also be made of metallic. Each Legendary will have 2,000 figures.
The least-rare figurine is Freddy Funko in the Squid Game outfit of The Front Man.
The physical collectibles shown on the site aren’t final. This is just the company’s initial plan.
Drops of Past Funko Wax NFT
Unsurprisingly, the lack of sales of one of Funko’s most recent WAX NFT releases has attracted attention. Disney’s Mickey and Friends Funko Digital Pop Collection had a low sales rate, as 52% of packages remained unsold.
Gastlecast is a YouTube channel run by collectors who are passionate about collecting Funko NFTs. They reported Funko extended the sale for another hour to try and sell more NFTs. Even the Standard Packages, normally sold at lower prices on Where To Buy, didn’t sell out completely, which is quite uncommon for Funko NFTs.
More than 52% of New Disney Funko Pops NFTs are Burned
Many collectors thought that the NFTs were too expensive, even though they featured animated versions of Disney characters such as Goofy and Daisy Duck. Pluto, Pete, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck. Disney fans also avoided purchasing Funko NFTs due to concerns over the exclusiveness of the figurines. Some collectors thought that they were indistinguishable as regular Funko Pops. This issue was also raised with other Funko NFT collection including Power Rangers, House of Dragons and House of Terror.
Collectors were disappointed by the perceived lack of exclusivity and uniqueness, as well as the fact that NFT Pops looked like the Disney Pops sold in shops.
It is still unknown whether the Squid Game collection, currently the most watched show on Netflix, can improve Funko’s market position. Since March 2022 when the Transformers x Funko NFT Collection Series 1 was presented to their community, Funko has released NFTs.
It has since produced dozens of NFTs featuring characters from My Little Pony and other cartoons and games, as well as Avatar and Game of Thrones. Funko NFTs can also be dedicated to bands. For example, there is the Iron Maiden Funko Pop NFT collection from 2022.
In its peak, Funko released new NFT collection almost every week. Now, the company is launching an average of one NFT collection per month.
